She ran through the wooded glen

That’s how she became a chicane
She often imagined awake in her bed
How easy to see it all through
But nothing prepares the one who dares
Finally facing the truth
Morning dawned as she returned
Nothing could be quite the same
Her guilty thoughts were now a deceit
The flagrancy of the chicane
How could she ever lock conscience away
Try to create perfect lies
In one torrid moment she’d melted today
The guilt is now filling her eyes
Later that morning she left for the coast
